Monday, Wes Lunt decided that he wanted to quarterback for the University of Illinois. He transfers from Oklahoma State. In 2012, Lunt started five games as a freshman, but his season was basically ended by injury. During spring ball, it became clear that he wouldn’t be starting for the Cowboys in 2013, so he decided to transfer. He chose Illinois over Louisville. Because of NCAA rules, he will be sitting out the 2013 season. Adding Wes Lunt to his team’s roster is a great step forward for Tim Beckman’s program. Lunt is a blue chip player, who other players will notice he’s on the team. They will realize that there is a good reason why he came, so they will take a closer look at the Illinois football program. Lunt will have three years of eligibility when he can finally play at Memorial Stadium. He will probably get the team a few wins.
